A suffix is a word or letters that is put at the end of a word. A suffix changes the meaning of a word. The suffix -able means capable or worthy of. For example, lovable means able to be loved. Notice that the e in love is missing. When we add the suffix –ble to the end of a word that ends in e, we drop the e. Notice that each of these words ends in –able and that the e’s have been dropped.
