Words Ending in -on English Matching Activity

Sometimes vowels don’t sound like themselves and make what’s called a schwa sound instead. Schwa sounds like “uh” and is always in the unstressed part of the word (not the part that you say stronger). Many words have the schwa sound in them, like at the beginning and end of the word America. Different vowels or groups of vowels can make the schwa sound. In these words the letter o makes the schwa sound at the end of each word before the n, like the word apron. Listen for the schwa-n sound in these words and notice how each word ends with -on.
